Evolving roles of architects and developers in the age of agentic AI
A short note from SAP Inside Track Bengaluru on how agentic AI is reshaping developer and architect roles beyond prompting alone.
At SAP Inside Track Bengaluru, I had the chance to speak about how the roles of architects and developers are evolving in the age of agentic AI.
The talk was not just about prompting. I touched on the basics, some of the tooling, what people are saying about this shift, and more importantly how our roles are changing because of it. One thing that keeps becoming clearer to me is this: prompts alone are not enough. As AI becomes a bigger part of how we build, strong developer fundamentals, domain understanding, and a good grasp of the application lifecycle matter even more.
That, for me, is the interesting part of this transition. The tools are moving fast, but good thinking, good engineering judgement, and the ability to connect the business problem to the right technical approach still matter a lot.
I really enjoyed the session and the discussions that followed, especially the questions from students. I also got the opportunity to do a separate session on SAP BTP, which made the whole experience even more meaningful for me.
